Retail District Manager - BC

Canna Cabana is Canada's one stop cannabis store for dried flower, oils, edibles, and accessories. canna Cabana is looking to hire our District Manager in British Columbia to expand its footprint in the province. The Retail District Manager, BC will be responsible for the local marketing and operations of Canna Cabana Inc. ensuring that all key financial objectives are met. Other responsibilities will include the effective attraction, retention and coaching of talented employees, providing the motivation for increased sales and customer service levels. The Retail District Manager, BC must possess a superior business intellect, responding quickly and effectively to marketplace dynamics by creating strategies that will ensure our continued success. The assigned region for this position may vary as the footprint of the company evolves or changes.

Job Duties

  • Implement comprehensive local marketing programs to maximize customer trial and awareness, while encouraging repeat visits
  • Maintain sufficient staffing levels, both salaried and hourly
  • Manage the operating budget and operate within Company guidelines
  • Complete prospecting and follow-up calls to market our products/services to local businesses, community groups and associations
  • Ensure Client database/ POS is maintained accurately
  • Perform activities including hiring, orientation and training, motivating, appraising performance, enforcing discipline, and termination in consultation with the Human Resources Department
  • Build team commitment to high standards of service, exceeding Customer expectations and leading by example
  • Ensure product promotion is ongoing, creative and well-presented
  • Submit monthly activities, budget and business reports
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained, resolving technical problems immediately
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure presentation of a clean, upscale and well-maintained establishment
  • Accurately monitor inventories, monitor security standards and systems, equipment and the flow of merchandise
  • Responsible for all financial activities in the stores including reconciliation and daily bank deposits on a rotational basis with management team, cash balancing, and the accurate monitoring of cash handling procedures in the stores.
  • Communicate and monitor adherence to health and safety legislation
  • Act as Safety Representative, responsible for health and safety issues, supplies and equipment, rendering first aid if required, and completing Injury Reports
  • Ensure accurate documentation of Inventory controls within all stores and follow company product ordering practices.
  • Coaching Store management on process improvements and HR related matters
  • Liaison with HR and Payroll for managing accurate payroll and subsequent employee relationships. Timely approval of Managers timesheets in Dayforce as per payroll calendar and manage labor hours per location.
  • Ensure profitability for all Canna Cabana stores in BC. Implement measures of success and KPIs in all stores across BC
  • Travel to all Canna Cabana retail locations will be a part of the job. All travel to be pre-approved by manager before occurrence
  • Work with Retail operations to open new stores in the region or/and plan and coordinate any acquisition as needed.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Selling It Right certification from LCRB required
  • University degree or College diploma in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years multiunit experience in the retail industry, cannabis retail industry preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years work experience in a management role in a retail environment, preferably in a unionized retail environment. 
  • Proven ability to lead a team
  • Proven excellent customer service skills
  • Possess the following personal qualities: integrity, creativity, high standards, commitment, ethical values, and achievement oriented
  • Clean and clear criminal background check
  • Clean drivers abstract and a valid driver’s license
  • Fully functional and safe motor vehicle to be able to travel between locations
  • Be able to travel across BC and/or Canada
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementation skills
  • Excellent management writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proven skills to interact effectively with employees in order to direct workflow, assess performance and assign duties
  • Understanding of the Cannabis industry and area of service
  • Able to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress and interruptions
  • Understanding of financial reports including budgetary guidelines, payroll and expenditures
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
