Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivables Specialist

High Tide Inc., a leading cannabis retailer and accessory company, is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivables Specialist in Calgary.

Reporting to the AP Lead, the Accounts Payable / Receivables (A/P & A/R) Specialist is directly responsible for coding expenses, preparing customer invoices, rent, and utilities, reconciling accounts with vendors/suppliers, and setting up utility accounts of the nationwide stores.

Responsibilities:

  • Processes (entry, review, and posting) of customer/vendor invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Processes (entry, review, and posting) of customer/vendor payments accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assists in closing month and quarter ends for A/P and A/R, including but not limited to accruals, including downloading AP and AR Aging reports.
  • Creation of Accounts Receivable Invoices for various types of revenue streams.
  • Customer follow-up for collections, post-payment receipts by direct posting and Journal Entry, and keep customer account reconciled.
  • Respond to and resolve internal and supplier/customer inquiries in a professional and timely, investigating and resolving billing discrepancies or misapplied payment transactions.
  • Code the deposit or supplier kit for urgent payments.
  • Analyze vendor by vendor to improve coding.
  • Complete 3-way matching of the inventory-related invoices.
  • Code credit cards to relevant general ledgers.
  • Coordinates with suppliers and reconciles supplier statements.
  • Setup new Supplier records, including banking information.
  • Co-manage the AP/AR inbox, the main contact point for internal and external A/P inquiries. This involves sorting and forwarding emails/invoice copies as well as responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
  • Complete special projects as required, report on findings, prepare recommendations and monitor outcomes. These may include the development of Accounts Payable guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensures the strict confidentiality and privacy of both financial and non-financial information as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
  • Any other duties related to AP/AR assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AP Process and all types of accounts reconciliation and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Experienced in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business related.
  • Knowledge & Experience using ERP systems. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel knowledge.
  • Well, organized, detail- orientated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
