Manager, Financial Reporting

Calgary, AB

High Tide Inc. is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting for our Calgary, AB office. Our organization is fast paced, growing, and highly successful in the cannabis retail space. As a Manager, Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for working with the finance reporting analysts to prepare the financial statements, including MD&A and accounts reconciliations for the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, and SOX controls testing. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and assist, the team when required for the monthly consolidation of financial statements, including preparation of notes to accounts and MD&A for the relevant period. 
  • Ensure compliance with the IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls while preparation of the consolidated financial statements.
  • Prepare, review and coordinate consolidated accounts reconciliations. 
  • Work with operational accounting of Canadian and international entities, tax and other departments to implement best practices to prepare accounts reconciliations. 
  • Perform technical research and record complex items, including implementation of new accounting standards. 
  • Support director of financial reporting for business combination accounting and impairment models.
  • Provide documentation and explanations as required by external auditors for the audit/review of consolidated financial statements. 
  • Review and update risk control matrix (RCMs) based on current process.
  • Perform monthly tests for RCMs and document them for external auditor review.
  • Other duties as required.   

     Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a public company with financial statements and MD&A preparation is required.
  • Current or previous experience with working with auditors (big 5, EY/KPMG/PWC/Deloitte/Grant Thornton is required.
  • Experience in internal controls and SOX is required. 
  • Minimum 3-years experience working at a leadership level managing a team of 3 plus employees is required.
  • Experience in preparing/auditing consolidated financial statements including MD&A and having dual-currency transactions and consolidations considered an asset. 
  • Broad experience with a working knowledge of all facets of accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Excellent accounting research and analytical skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
