Manager, Financial Reporting

High Tide Inc. is seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting. Our organization is fast paced, growing, and highly successful in the cannabis retail space. As a Manager, Financial Reporting, you will take pride, at owning and executing the financial statements, the MD&A (Management Discussion & Analysis) and first level review process. The position reports to Director, Financial Reporting in our Calgary, AB office.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate workflow among Finance and other departments to ensure processing and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Manage and support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and associated disclosures.
  • Manage and support in the preparation of financial results and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of performance vs a variety of benchmarks (budget, forecast, and prior periods).
  • Review technical research and provide analysis on accounting treatment and/or common practice for recording complex items including the implementation of new accounting standards in conjunction with the Senior/Financial Analysis
  • Prepare SOX-level compliant documentation, workbooks, working papers and transactional accounting records and maintain the required standards in conjunction with the Director.
  • Prepare compliance documentation in support of internal risk and control matrix.
  • Manage the external reviews and audit of financial statements of the company.
  • Assists in month end close process as required including recording of transactions as they relate to the preparation of the financial statements.
  • In conjunction with the Director, ensure compliance to IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls for all accounting activities.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks, reports and analysis as requested by senior management.
  • Actively participant in managing the month end reporting calendar and close process.
  • Work to streamline and consolidate all reporting from the various entities and systems that are currently in use.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and controls, with a proven background in ERP system implementation and usage of the financial reporting module.
  • Understanding of variance analysis and calculation of key KPI’s.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and public listed reporting requirements is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree - CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in audit/financial reporting with a strong acumen for business processes and control.
  • Minimum 2-years experience working at a leadership level.
