Loss Prevention Manager

The Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for investigating preventable loss in our retail stores and carries out store audit procedures. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, demonstrates ethical and safe work practices, has a high level of discretion and is passionate about loss prevention initiatives. The successful candidate must also be available to travel and work flexible hours to accommodate hours of operation for stores. In this role, you will work in an energized, fast paced environment focused on creating a safe environment for our employees, teams, and customers; You are charged with identification and mitigation of external/internal theft and fraud trends. This role will conduct investigations focusing on high impact external/internal theft/fraud incidents through the use of company technology (CCTV, Incident Reporting, Data Analysis). This role directly teaches and trains Store Leaders and Associates in the safe practices of effectively handling external theft events and the use of the Company Case Management and Reporting systems.

Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for conducting all loss prevention investigations within an assigned 
  • Prevents inventory loss through communication and participation with all store staff members in programs aimed at theft awareness and prevention measures
  • Audits store security procedures such as cycle counts, reporting etc.
  • Detects and processes individuals engaged in-store theft and fraudulent activities including completing investigation and related reports with police agencies and the criminal justice system
  • Conducts initial investigation of internal matters (ex. cash over/short reports, etc.)
  • Responds to all emergency situations
  • Responsible for cameras across all stores and surveillance policies, infrastructure maintenance
  • Provides direction in merchandise protection standards and conducts awareness training
  • Key contact for their group of stores for camera system installs and maintenance
  • Works directly with armoured car service on troubleshooting and evaluation of store needs
  • Works directly with alarm companies on setup and ongoing maintenance issues
  • Interviews suspects and witnesses and prepares in-depth reports on all investigations
  • Liaison with category management and compliance for product transfer between stores
  • Responsible for managing the External Investigative process by identifying trends, habitual offender activity, and fraud through data analysis and incident reporting
  • Collaborate with Retail cross functional teams to develop localized plans and efforts to address high impact cases
  • Proactively monitor controls to identify potential causes of habitual offender activity within specific locations.
  • Support Internal Investigations in cooperation with the Internal Investigations and HR Team
  • Effectively communicate and partner (teach, coach, and inspire) throughout area of responsibility to execute LP, safety, and operations.
  • Work closely with all levels of employees to communicate external trends by reinforcing customer service and incident reporting.
  • Develop audit structure for loss prevention frequency and recommend additions to store visit report from retail operations
  • Other related tasks as required

 Work Experience

  • Minimum, 4 – 5 years’ loss prevention experience
  • Minimum, 4 – 5 years’ management experience
  • Previous retail experience will be mandatory
  • Travel to retail store required on as needed basis
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to get Cannsell/ Cannasell/ Smartchoices /Serving It Right Certification/QCW certification
  • Knowledge of WHIMIS is preferred
  • Knowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques
  • Interview and interrogation training will be considered an asset Other Skills and Capabilities

  • Must be willing and able to work irregular hours, including weekends and occasional overnights to support the retail stores
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, Project and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Must pass a Criminal Record Check
